Description
Lapis Lazuli is a two-piece composition shaped by preservation, movement, and memory. Entirely handmade, it centers around a sheer floral shirt kept in its original form, once part of one of my mother’s caftans. Rather than altering its essence, the garment honors its history, allowing the fabric, print, hand-worked sfifa, and handmade Moroccan buttons to remain intact and visible.
Beneath it, a solid underdress was created to support and elevate the transparency of the upper layer. Rendered in a warm saffron-gold tone with subtle luminosity, it recalls the mineral depth of lapis lazuli, where blue meets veins of light.
Delicate tressan at the shoulders introduces quiet structure, anchoring the fluidity of the layered silhouette while preserving lightness. The result is a dialogue between inheritance and reinterpretation, softness and strength.
A one-of-a-kind creation where inherited textile, artisanal precision, and contemporary design exist in refined harmony.
