Description
Blue Moonflower is born from a rare late 1980s burnout velvet with lamé floral motifs, a textile crafted in the tradition of European couture mills in Como and Lyon. During that era, these velvets were celebrated for their depth and softness, and for the way metallic florals shifted under light, shimmering in blue, indigo, and silver like petals unfolding at night.
Revived from an archival ceremonial ensemble discovered in Asilah, the fabric reveals a surface where velvet shadow meets luminous lamé, a quiet interplay between texture and light. In its new form, the textile becomes a sleek, contemporary silhouette.
The neckline is framed with traditional sfifa and hand formed l’aqad, subtle gestures that honor Moroccan craftsmanship without overpowering the design. Fully doubled in smooth silk, the interior allows the dress to glide effortlessly against the skin while preserving its sculptural clarity.
Short, modern, and luminous, Blue Moonflower balances heritage and contemporary refinement.
A nocturnal bloom reborn through SHAMS & KAMAR, where the moon speaks in blue light and a once resting textile finds new life.
